Book Club

A couple of friends have suggested that we have an on-line book club, so I shortened the list of books I want to read to the following titles:

  • Chinua Achebe: Things Fall Apart
  • Mitch Albom: The Five People You Meet In Heaven
  • Julian Barnes: A History of the World in 10 ½ Chapters
  • Willa Cather: Death Comes for the Archbishop
  • Miguel de Cervantes: Don Quixote
  • Fyodor Dostoyevsky: Crime and Punishment
  • Margaret Mitchell: Gone With The Wind
  • Earnest Hemingway: The Old Man and the Sea
  • Kazuo Ishiguro: The Remains of the Day
  • Rudyard Kipling: Kim
  • Milan Kundera: The Unbearable Lightness of Being
  • Toni Morrison: Jazz
  • Salman Rushdie: The Satanic Verses, Midnight’s Children
  • John Steinbeck: East of Eden, The Grapes of Wrath
  • Edith Wharton: The Age of Innocence, The House Of Mirth

We decided to just start at the beginning of the list and work through it. I don’t know exactly how this is going to go yet, but I wanted to issue an invitation to participate in the book club.

Mission No. 1: purchase a copy of Things Fall Apart.
